Belated Election Post

(Sorry about this weird font, I can't seem to fix it !)

Since returning from our trip last weekend, I have been buried in meetings and research papers. I am finally coming up for air today, and making my belated election post.

Greg and I would have been fired up about this election regardless of where we lived, but voting in Vermont this year has been especially cool. Vermont is the only state to require voters to raise their hand, and make an oath in order to vote.

"I solemly swear (or affirm) that whenever I give my vote or suffrage, touching any matter that concerns the State of Vermont, I will do it so as in my conscience I shall judge will most conduce to the best good of the same, as established by the Constitution, without fear or favor of any person." (
Vermont Constitution, Chapter II, Section 42.)

Having to make this oath reminds you of how important it is to vote. We are also proud to have voted for Bernie Sanders, the first Socialist to be elected to the Senate.

Here are some shots of our rustic voting experience at the local town hall.

Wow - I'm really surprised the poll officials allowed pictures to be taken. Can't believe the paper ballots look like that.

I know! I should have gotten pictures of the eighty year old women running the place!
